How long is Alpha?
Alpha is a 9-12 week course exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Each session looks at a different question around faith and the talks are designed to create conversation in small groups afterwards.
Halfway through is the highlight of the course; the Alpha Day/Weekend. Guests often tell us this is their favourite part and where life long friendship are formed.
Don’t worry, trying one session doesn’t mean you have to come to them all – try one and see if it’s right for you.
What are the Alpha Sessions?
Each session on Alpha explores and aspect of the Christian faith and is designed to inspire conversation. On Alpha you will talk about:

During the Alpha Day/Weekend

What is the Alpha weekend?
The Alpha weekend is usually organised halfway through the course. And it’s one big party! For a weekend there is time to talk to each other, hear more about the Holy Spirit, pray and of course enjoy a nice meal, play games and do other fun things.
During the Alpha weekend you will hear more about who the Holy Spirit is, what He does and how you can be filled with the Holy Spirit. You round off the weekend with the introduction ‘What next?’. You will also come together with your regular small group to discuss further the topics that have been discussed.
Is there an Alpha near me?
Alpha is run all over the world! Most Alphas start in September, January and April – you can find one near you on our map below.
We (Alpha International) don’t run all Alphas, these are the responsibility of the organisation running them. If you have any specific questions or concerns you should contact the organisation running your Alpha.
